Do you know the difference between wood screws and self-tapping screws?

1. Wood screws, similar to machine screws, can be screwed directly into the wood member and used to fasten a metal (or non-metallic) part with a through hole to a wood member. This connection is also a detachable connection. The wood screws are small in strength and can only be screwed in relatively hard places. The diameter of the commonly used wood screws is about 2.5-4mm. There is no matching screw cap, which can be used with a flat or Phillips screwdriver.

2. Self-tapping screws are used for non-metallic or soft metals without bottom holes. It is mainly used for the connection and fixing of some thin plate parts, such as the connection of color steel plate and color steel plate, the connection of wall beam, etc., self-tapping screws are commonly exposed to the outdoors, and they have strong corrosion resistance.

Although these two kinds of screws are similar in some links, there are still differences:

A. Self-tapping screws need manual operation, and the screws are small, and the range of use is limited.

B. High hardness, wide thread spacing, deep thread, surface is not smooth.

C. The rear end of wood screws has no thread, and the thread is fine, sharp and soft, while the thread of self-tapping screws is thick, sharp and hard.
